The Malossi rear hub gearbox is a product that represents a challenge: to improve the gear box in which the high-performance Malossi gears rotate, and above all, to make it more beautiful. This gearbox is made of die-cast aluminum, carefully machined and finished. It is not just a simple casing, but a work of art.

The goal of this product is to enhance every single part of Piaggio mopeds such as Ciao, Si, and their cousins in the range. Furthermore, it has been designed to increase performance by shaping the material within the limits imposed by physics and factory constraints.

To ensure greater rigidity, ribs have been added to strategic sections. In addition, the diameter of the bearing seat of the wheel shaft and all others has been increased, along with the addition of ribs to compensate for the increase in performance.

The gearbox uses pressed needle bearings for all gear shafts, NBR seals with spring sealing lip and auxiliary lip, and a labyrinth to trap oil while allowing the gearbox to breathe.

Furthermore, the gearbox simplifies the housing of the gears and improves the operation of the brake jaw with dedicated machined surfaces to guide it more accurately.

To ensure greater strength, there are two concentric positioning bushings closed by five hexagonal cylindrical head screws.

The gearbox uses high-quality steel pins, pressed into the casing, for the lever and brake jaw pins. Additionally, to improve rigidity, the gasket has been eliminated and everything is sealed with silicone paste as in modern vehicles.

The gearbox comes complete with bearings, seals, screws, and shims, everything needed for a perfect assembly with Malossi gears.

However, it is important to note that the gearbox does not allow the vehicle to operate in bicycle mode.

The crankcase is made of die-cast material in a high-strength mechanical silicon aluminum alloy. It has a textured black paint surface treatment with high resistance.

The casing comes complete with closing and fixing screws, shims, roller bearings, and pins for the lever and brake shoe. It has been completely redesigned with a reinforced structure by adding ribs to withstand higher stresses.

In addition, it features an oil vent with an internal labyrinth and an external connection. The casing coupling is guaranteed by 5 fixing screws and 2 bushings.

The technical specifications include M10x18 vehicle hub fixing screws, 15x21x12 internal wheel shaft bearing, 20x26x12 output wheel shaft bearing, 9x13x12 internal clutch shaft bearing, 13x19x12 output clutch shaft bearing, and 4 gear transmission bearings 9x13x12.

Finally, the seals are made of FKM and the screws are countersunk with a bronze sealing washer for oil level/filling.
