Malossi proudly presents the new and incredible cylinder for Vespa ET3 125, completely made of aluminum. This thermal group represents a true rebirth of an authentic legend, one of the most successful projects associated with the Malossi brand.
The history of this thermal group begins in 1982, when Malossi introduced for the first time an O-ring as a sealing gasket between the head and the cylinder in a cast iron cylinder with this segment. This refined solution still represents the state of the art today.
Malossi has completely rethought the cylinder design, starting from scratch and innovating, thus presenting a cylinder that fits perfectly into the MHR thermal group family. Aluminum has replaced cast iron and the reed valve seat has been completely redesigned, solving the shortcomings of the original Vespa intake since 1982. In addition, a crosspiece has been added to ensure greater stability to the piston ring.
The displacement has increased to 130 cubic centimeters and the six transfer ports are the result of experience and technology acquired in decades of competitions in the scooter world. This Vespa cylinder can reach high powers and speeds up to 11,000 rpm.
The exhaust has also been completely redesigned and features a booster scheme, a racing solution that ensures a large surface area for the expulsion of exhaust gases, reducing the fatigue of the piston rings.
Malossi offers a complete and powerful plug and play kit and, therefore, could not miss the reissue of the specific reed valve collector kit for this thermal group.
The piston is unprecedented, specifically made for this cylinder, and is super lightweight, single ring, and high-performance.
The aluminum cylinder is obtained by gravity casting in specific steel shells. It is made with a primary alloy of bonified and stabilized high-silicon aluminum. The processing is carried out on high-precision CNC machines. The barrel has a silicon carbide coating in a galvanic nickel matrix and a cross-grinding with diamond passages with very tight tolerances. The heat exchange surfaces have been recalculated and increased. The exhaust ports and transfer ports have been studied and tested to achieve maximum thermodynamic efficiency.
Malossi performs dimensional and roughness checks according to its standards. The piston-cylinder coupling is selected with a tolerance of 0.005 mm.
