The Malossi POWER UP CLUTCH SYSTEM complete clutch system is designed for clutch bells with a diameter of 98.5 mm.

The Malossi range for Vespa offers highly technological products capable of significantly improving performance compared to standard, requiring the adaptation of other fundamental components of the vehicle.

Just compare a 1978 Vespa PX 200 E, which develops a standard power of 12.35 HP at 5700 RPM, with a Vespa modified with Malossi Kits, which can develop 27.5 HP at 8000 RPM, more than double the HP at a much higher speed, to understand that it was essential to design a clutch group capable of withstanding the stresses caused by such a significant increase in performance!

The Malossi POWER UP CLUTCH SYSTEM clutch groups were created to respond and overcome all the problems that inevitably arise when the clutch group technology is not suitable for the other engine components.

A traditional clutch, being called upon to transmit more than doubled power to the gears and rotate at much higher speeds, can cause bell collapses due to centrifugal force, slippage and deformations that result in annoying and unsettling metallic noises, up to clutch slipping caused by insufficient friction of the original discs, which prevents the transmission of the entire power generated by the thermal group, partially nullifying its potential.

The two versions of the Malossi POWER UP CLUTCH SYSTEM have common characteristics:

  • The POWER UP CLUTCH BASKET clutch bell in high-strength steel with a surface hardening treatment to increase wear resistance and, consequently, durability.
  • A reinforcement ring welded with TIG technique on the outer diameter of the bell to effectively counteract the centrifugal force generated by the higher rotation speed.
  • 4 clutch discs with high-performance friction material.
  • Tightened and recalculated coupling tolerances, especially in the connection between the spring push disc and the bell, to eliminate annoying metallic noises and contribute to increasing the component's durability.

The two clutches are actuated by a series of main springs with a high coefficient of elasticity, 6 in the bell for PX 125 - 150 and 7 in the bell for PX 200 E, and are equipped with a set of auxiliary springs, always 6 for PX 125 - 150 and 7 for PX 200 E, to be used in higher power configurations.

This adjustment allows the user to adapt the clutch to the engine configuration, obtaining advantages at all levels of modification and in all possible configurations.
